Why not leave the car at home and visit Hartington on foot via one of the two pilgrimage routes that pass through the village?
Firstly there is the Peak Pilgrimage with 6 stages:
Ilam to Alstonefield
Alstonefield to Hartington
Hartington to Monyash
Monyash to Bakewell
Bakewell to Baslow
Baslow to Eyam
A route book can be purchased and those following the pilgrimage can stamp their book in St Giles’ Church in Hartington (and other churches on the route)

Secondly there is the longer St Sigfrid’s Way stretching from York to Vaxjo in Sweden but again passing through Hartington.
