First Responders

Welcome to the Hartington & District First Responders page

Hartington & District Community First Responders cover the geographical areas of Hartington, Biggin, Earl Sterndale, Flagg & Monyash.

What are Community First Responders?

Community First Responders are volunteers who belong to local schemes. They attend 999/111 emergency calls in their own community. In the East Midlands, Community First Responders are dispatched by the East Midlands Ambulance Service Emergency Operations Centre in the same way as an ambulance.

Because Community First Responders live in the local community, they can often arrive at the scene of the emergency much faster than an ambulance. If they arrive first on scene, Community First Responders can provide assessment and treatment for the patient before the arrival of an ambulance.

How will your Local Group/Scheme work?

Hartington & District Community First Responders will work in partnership and under the direction of the East Midland Ambulance Service. We will aim to network with our neighbouring Community First Responder Services and collaborate with our local GP Surgery. Our intention is to provide a quick and efficient urgent response to the community and our visitors with a serious health need as requested by the Ambulance Service. We wish to work & care to the best of our ability whist keeping safe. We intend to promote our group and its role to local organisations and people within the communities listed.

What to do in an Emergency?

The First Responders can only come out to you if they are requested by the Ambulance Service.  In an emergency RING 999
