Wildlife, hedgerow conservation and hydro electricity projects are the first to benefit from funds through the new Peak District National Park Foundation. Grants have been awarded through the Foundation’s #70kfor70 campaign, which launched during National Parks Week in April.
Refugees and asylum seekers pulled on their wellies to enjoy their first experience of the Peak District National Park. The visit was organised by Peak District National Park ranger Sally Wheal and colleagues Rob Kenning and Pete Bush, along with Derby-based charity Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity (DRS).

The Peak District National Park Authority has warned that a spate of break-ins and thefts from its Dovedale public toilets could put the facility at risk of closure. The public toilets, based at the popular car park at Dovedale between Ilam and Thorpe, recently suffered their fourth incident this year.
A married couple have been ordered to pay £42,000 in penalties after making unauthorised alterations to a building dating back to the 17th century, in the Derbyshire village of Winster. Christopher and Sarah Gillott, along with joiner Simon Mcloughlin, were sentenced at Derby Crown Court, following a prosecution by the Peak District National Park Authority.
